Gerd Eidam

Gerd Eidam (* 1941 in Ehringshausen , Lahn-Dill-Kreis ) is a German poet lawyer.

Life

Eidam comes from a Hessian family of lawyers and artists and grew up in Gelnhausen . He is the son of the painter Wilhelm Eidam . Eidam studied law and was founded in 1984 with the work of separation of lines in the legal expenses insurance at the University of Hamburg Dr. jur. PhD . He was admitted to the bar in 1975. For reasons of age, he returned this approval at the end of 2019. Eidam also held various board positions in German insurance companies for over 25 years. He became known as a lawyer and author of numerous specialist books and publications on corporate criminal law, insurance and neighborhood law.

In 2006 Gerd Eidam was honored with the Novalis Prize for Literature from the association «Pro Kultur» eV for his two works, Faustens Kind (1998, 2005) and Street Dog (2004) . In the reasoning of the jury it says u. a .: “He succeeds in an impressive way to link the past and the present ... In doing so, Eidam comes to speak of the basic questions of what we call the human, without the all-too-human remaining alien to him; In the juxtaposition of tradition and modernity, in his books he succeeds in looking 'behind things' in the Novalisian sense. ”The laudation was given by the writer André Schinkel .

Gerd Eidam lives in Burgwedel near Hanover.
