Gerd Fätkenheuer

Gerd Fätkenheuer (* 1955 ) is a German doctor. He is Head of Infectious Diseases at Cologne University Hospital and was President of the German Society for Infectious Diseases from 2013 to the end of 2019 (successor: Bernd Salzberger ).

Fätkenheuer has been working at the University of Cologne Clinic since 1987 . In 1993 he was recognized as a doctor for internal medicine and in 2003 as an infectious disease specialist (DGI) and in 2005 the recognition of the additional training in "infectious diseases" by the North Rhine Medical Association.

In 2007 he was appointed professor for internal medicine / clinical infectious diseases at the University of Cologne. Since 2010 he has been President of the Conference for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine (KIT) in Cologne. From 2013 to 2019 he was President of the German Society for Infectious Diseases (DGI).

He is a specialist in blood plasma .
