Gerd Koßmann (born August 21, 1951 ) was a football player in Schkopau . For the BSG Chemie Buna Schkopau , he played in 1981/82 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association .

Koßmann joined the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Buna Schkopau in 1971 , whose soccer team was playing in the third-rate Halle (Saale) district league at the time . In 1973 he was with the team district champion and promoted to the GDR league . When BSG Chemie surprisingly rose to the top league in the 1980/81 season, Koßmann was involved as a defender with 29 appearances in 22 point and eight promotion games and two goals. In the league season 1981/82 he was used continuously as a libero and played in addition to two other players all 26 point games. The already 30-year-old defense organizer was overwhelmed like the entire team in the league, and he could not prevent the newly promoted team from scoring the worst goal difference with 77 goals conceded and immediately relegated with only three wins and 18 defeats. Then Koßmann played another four seasons for the BSG Chemie Buna in the GDR league, but ended his career as a football player in the performance area during the 1985/86 season.

Koßmann, who had already completed an apprenticeship as a graduate economist during his active time , remained a member of the company sports community and was one of the founding members of the successor club SV Merseburg 99 on February 7, 1991 .
