Gerd Wiesmann

Gerd Wiesmann (born February 3, 1943 in Bocholt ) is a German local politician ( CDU ).

Live and act

After graduating from the St. Georg Gymnasium in Bocholt, Gerd Wiesmann studied at the Münster University of Education and worked from 1965 until he was elected full-time district administrator, most recently as head of a secondary school. His political career began in 1960 when he joined the Junge Union, of which he was district chairman from 1971 to 1975. He joined the CDU in 1961 and became its deputy district chairman in 1973. In Bocholt, Wiesmann was a mandate holder in the Stenern municipal council and, after the reorganization, a city councilor in Bocholt. He had been deputy mayor since 1983 and resigned after being elected deputy district administrator. After his election as district administrator, he also renounced his mandate in the Bocholt city council. On November 10, 1994 he was confirmed in his office as (honorary) district administrator. In the local elections in 1999 he was elected (full-time) District Administrator of the Borken district and in the 2004 election he was confirmed in his office with 66.1% of the votes. Gerd Wiesmann retired on October 20, 2009. His successor as district administrator was Kai Zwicker . Gerd Wiesmann is married and has a daughter and three sons.
