Kai Zwicker

Kai Zwicker (born December 5, 1967 in Gronau ) is a German politician ( CDU ). In the local elections on August 30, 2009, he was elected full-time district administrator in the Borken district with 62.1 percent of the votes cast . He took office on October 21, 2009. On May 25, 2014, he was confirmed in office with 63.2 percent of the vote.

Career

Kai Zwicker lives in Heek , is married and has one son. The family also includes his wife's two sons from his first marriage. After graduating from high school and completing the Bundeswehr, he studied law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. He then worked from 1997 to 1999 as a lawyer in a medium-sized law firm in Gronau. He received his doctorate from the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster on the importance of the federal states in the European integration process.

Even as a teenager he was interested in politics and became a member of the Junge Union, later the CDU, in which he was active at the local and city association level. From 1989 to 1994 he was an expert citizen in various committees of the city of Gronau and the district of Borken and from 1994 to 1999 a member of the council of the city of Gronau.

On September 12, 1999, Zwicker was elected mayor of Heek for the first time. In the 2004 election he was confirmed in office with over 81 percent of the votes cast.

During his tenure as mayor, Zwicker was also active as the deputy chairman of the “Working Group of Mayors and Councilors in the Borken District” and as a member of the supervisory board of the Borken District Economic Development Agency.

He has been a member of the CDU district executive since 1990, is district chairman and deputy state chairman of the CDU's local political association, and has been a member of the CDU state executive since 2009.

Zwicker has been 1st Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Westmünsterland since December 14, 2009 , and he is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Regionale 2016 Agency .
