Gerhard Auerbach

Gerhard Auerbach is a former German soccer player who was active between 1950 and 1952 for BSG Chemie Leipzig in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR soccer . In 1951 he became a GDR master with Chemie Leipzig.

Athletic career

Gerhard Auerbach appeared in national GDR football for the first time in the 1950/51 season as a player in the league team of the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Leipzig. He played his first competitive game for Leipzig on August 13, 1950 in the GDR Cup game BSG Chemie - Chemie Jena (5-2) as a right-back. After another cup appearance, Auerbach was then used in three league games. The encounter between BSG Chemie and Turbine Halle on November 5, 1950 was canceled and repeated on December 23, so that Auerbach only made two official league appearances. At the end of the season he and his team were GDR champions. In the 1951/52 season, Auerbach was used six times in the league between December 1951 and March 1952. He played his last league game on March 9, 1952 in the encounter between BSG Chemie and Motor Oberschöneweide . In the 4-0 victory he was substituted on for ten minutes.

As a recreational footballer, Gerhard Auerbach later played in the lower class BSG Aufbau Böhlitz-Ehrenberg.
