Gerhard Friemel

Gerhard Friemel (born September 17, 1929 ) is a former German soccer player. In the early 1950s he played for Mechanik / Motor Gera in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

When in the GDR Oberliga season 1950/51 at the Betriebsportgemeinschaft (BSG) Mechanik Gera after the 29th matchday the regular Helmut Pätzold was out for the rest of the season, the previously unused 21-year-old Gerhard Friemel moved up and played from 21 Matchday of the remaining six point games as a midfielder. In the season 1951/52 Friemel belonged from the beginning to the regular squad of the Gera Oberliga team, which now competed as BSG Motor. Of the 34 league games played, Friemel played 28 games up to the 29th matchday. In contrast to the previous season, Friemel now played continuously as a right defender. After his last league game Gera - Motor Zwickau (0-0), Gerhard Friemel left the GDR and settled in southwest Germany. There he played a game for FK Pirmasens in the Oberliga Südwest in 1952/53 . Then he disappeared from the higher-class league operation.
