Gerhard Genz

Gerhard Genz (born April 16, 1906 ; † July 8, 1980 ) was a German homeland researcher.

Life

His father Reinhold Genz was mayor of the city of Osterfeld in the Prussian province of Saxony from March 18, 1920 to 1932 . Gerhard Genz attended the Stiftsgymnasium in Zeitz , where he passed the Abitur. From 1927 to 1931 he studied dentistry in Halle / S., Marburg and Jena. In 1936 he got his first permanent position in the dental clinic of the AOK in Erfurt . From then on, Erfurt became the center of his life until shortly before his death. He took part in World War II and was captured.

After the end of the war, he wrote his first local history paper, Our Little City, Osterfeld , which he dedicated to his father. From then on he devoted himself to researching the history of the city of Osterfeld for the next 20 years. Before his death, he left his written estate to the Osterfeld City Council.
