Gerhard Koelsch

Gerhard Kölsch (* 1964 ) is a German art historian .

Life

Gerhard Kölsch studied art history, German literature, philosophy and German folklore at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the University of Vienna . He received his doctorate in 1997 in Mainz under Michael Bringmann with a thesis on the Frankfurt painter Johann Georg Trautmann . After a traineeship at the International Days in Ingelheim am Rhein , he was a research assistant at the Free German Hochstift from 1999 to 2011 , a. a. Editing of the inventory catalog of the paintings in the Frankfurt Goethe Museum. Since then, freelance art historian, curator of exhibitions and scientific author. His field of research is German painting and graphics from the 17th to 19th centuries, the history of Frankfurt art collections and topics of remembrance and residence culture, and he is the author of numerous monographs, essays and book chapters.
