Muggle sails

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term Muggle sail refers to the sexual organ of the male housefly.

A Muggeseggele (also Muggaseggele , Muggaseggel or Muggaseggl ) is a jokingly used, very small "unit" for length, volume, weight or time in the Alemannic dialect . It relates to the sexual organ of the male housefly .

In the Swabian dialect , the housefly with a body length of around seven millimeters is called "Mugg". The name Muggeseggele originally comes from the Latin saccellus , which means the scrotum . The term now refers to the aedeagus , the sperm-transmitting member of the housefly. An entomologist from the Stuttgart Natural History Museum measured this part of the housefly's body scientifically. According to his investigation, the average value is 0.22 millimeters. This corresponds to around 1115  inches .

The "Seckel" is one of the few explicitly sexually connoted swear words in the German language, which is usually denigrated with expressions of the fecal language . On the other hand, the term Muggeseggele is not used as a swear word and is therefore also suitable for children. For example, in the children's and youth television series Ein Fall für BARZ from Südwestrundfunk (SWR), which is playing in Fellbach near Stuttgart, the Swabian phrase A muggeseggele Zeit hädde mer no! (High German 'We still have a bit of time!'). The phrase and its translation can also be found in the Swabian lexicon , which the SWR offers along with other information material in addition to this television series on its online portal SWR Kinderetz .

In 2009 the readers of the Stuttgarter Nachrichten voted “Schwabens smallest unit” as the most beautiful Swabian word by a large margin. Since the beginning of 2014, the private radio station Antenne 1 has been trying to bring the word in the spelling Muggaseggele into the Duden .
