Gerhard Kempinski

Ernst Gerhardt Kempinski (* 1904 in Germany ; † February 14, 1947 in London , United Kingdom ) was a German restaurateur and film actor.

Life

Gerhard Kempinski was born as the son of Hans and Luise Kempinski and was the last official heir of the famous hotel dynasty. He married 1930 Melanie Framers, the daughter of the Berlin writer beginning of Sigismund Framers , he fled with after the Nazi seizure of power in London, where he took over the opened by his father in 1936, "Gerhard Kempinski" restaurant because of this in the United States moved . In 1938 his son, the actor and playwright Tom Kempinski , was born.

From 1942 Gerhard Kempinski worked as an actor and starred in a total of around 16 feature films. Most famous actors he shot with included Lilli Palmer , Deborah Kerr , Claude Rains , Vivien Leigh , Stewart Granger , Robert Morley .

Gerhard Kempinski died on February 14, 1947 in London. The cause of death is unknown.
