Gerhard Müller (born January 22, 1928 ; † April 23, 2018 ) was a German football player .
Athletic career
Müller played from 1948 for BC Augsburg , the predecessor club of the later Bundesliga club FC Augsburg , in the Oberliga Süd . In his debut season he only managed to stay in the top division with the team in a play-off against tied competitor TSG Ulm 1846 , a predecessor of the later Bundesliga club SSV Ulm 1846. In 1951 he finally got down with the club, but this managed to get promoted again. In the following seasons, the offensive player played with the team mostly against relegation, in the season 1954/55 he achieved the best result of his club membership with her as seventh in the table. In 1958 he left after a total of 184 league games in which he had scored 40 goals for the club, Augsburg and switched for professional reasons to league competitor TSG Ulm 1846, who had been promoted to the league. There he ran two seasons before he ended his active career in 1960 after 43 more point games in which he had scored a goal.
Müller was a full-time journalist , he worked for the Südwest Presse .
