Gerhard Mammen

Gerhard Mammen (born August 22, 1947 in Hamburg ; † July 11, 2012 in Ansbach ) was a German economist and professor of economics , regional economics and personnel management . Until his death he was President of the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences .

Mammen graduated from high school in Hamburg, then did his basic military service and then studied economics at the University of Hamburg . He completed this course in 1974 with a diploma . After graduating, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Essen , where he received his doctorate in 1977. From 1982 onwards, Mammen worked for the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Osnabrück-Emsland , and from 1985 as managing director.

In 1996 he followed the call to the newly founded Ansbach University of Applied Sciences. He was one of the first professors and played a key role in building the university. Before he was elected President of the University in 2003, he was Dean of the Faculty of Business and General Sciences. During his tenure, he pushed for the gradual expansion of the university and concluded international partnerships, including a. to Shandong University in China, the Missouri Southern State University in the USA and the Technical University in Liberec (Czech Republic). In addition, Mammen was a member of the board of directors of the Bavarian University Center for China until his death and was a founding member of Hochschule Bayern e. V.

He died in his office on July 11, 2012, two months before his planned retirement.

Gerhard Mammen was the father of two daughters and two sons.
