Gerhard Schedl Music Theater Prize

The Gerhard Schedl Musiktheaterpreis is an award established by the Neue Oper Wien in 2009 for new works in music theater , which was named after the Austrian composer Gerhard Schedl . Gerhard Schedl was one of the outstanding Austrian music theater composers of the 20th century .

Award winners

The Munich composer Markus Lehmann-Horn was chosen as the first prize winner in 2009 . The jury selected him for his work Bruder Woyzeck - Traumfalle , which was premiered by the Neue Oper Wien in April 2012.
