Gerhard Spitzer

Gerhard Spitzer (born August 14, 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). He has been a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council since 2008 .

education and profession

Gerhard Spitzer first graduated from elementary school in Breitenlee and then attended high school in Bernoullistraße for eight years. In 1983 Spitzer began studying commercial science , but dropped out in 1986. Spitzer changed his studies and studied business administration from 1986 to 1992, which he obtained with the degree Mag. Rer. soc. oec. completed. In addition to his studies, Spitzer worked in the student care department of the Vienna Youth Centers Association and between 1989 and 1994 he worked as a freelance copywriter and conceptualist for an advertising agency in marketing. Between 1991 and 1994 Spitzer was also a freelance customer advisor for an advertising agency. Spitzer has been managing director of the SPÖ district organization Floridsdorf since 1994 .

Gerhard Spitzer was a district councilor in the Floridsdorf district council between 1996 and also chairman of the club from 1998. In 2000 he switched to the position of deputy district mayor, which he held until 2008. Since January 24, 2008 he has represented the SPÖ in the Vienna State Parliament and City Council, where he replaced Angela Lueger .

Spitzer was or is a member of the Association of Social Democratic Academics (BSA), the Socialist Youth (SJ), the Young Generation and the Social Democratic Business Association .
