Angela Lueger (born October 17, 1965 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). She is a former Federal Councilor and was a member of the National Council from January 8, 2008 to October 22, 2019 .

education and profession

Angela Lueger attended elementary school between 1971 and 1975 and then a secondary school. In 1979 she moved to the Higher Federal College for Economic Women’s Professions, where she passed her Matura in 1984 .

From 1984 to 1988 Lueger worked as a specialist in the administrative service at MA 52 (municipal housing management). In 1992 she became a registrar at the registry office in Vienna- Floridsdorf , and in 1994 she was promoted to deputy registry office manager. In 2002 she switched to the union of municipal employees as a federal women's officer , and since 2006 she has been the senior consultant there.

politics

Angela Lueger began her political career as a district councilor in Floridsdorf (1993–2000). She was a member of the Austrian Federal Council from July 1, 2004 to November 17, 2005 and then moved as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council. On January 8, 2008, she succeeded Kurt Eder as a member of the Austrian National Council. She was here in the XXIII. Legislative period Member in the committees for buildings, equal treatment and the environment. After the National Council election in 2019 , she left the National Council.

Within the party, Lueger has been the deputy district chairwoman of the SPÖ-Floridsdorf since 2001, was the club chairwoman of the SPÖ-Floridsdorf from 2002 to 2004 and a member of the district executive committee. Since 2004 she has been deputy district party chairwoman and member of the district party presidium in Floridsdorf. The trade unionist Lueger is considered by the population to be close to the people. For many years she has been involved in the fight against unemployment and poverty among single mothers.
