Gerhard Streich

Gerhard Streich (* 1946 ) is a German historian.

Streich studied Medieval and Modern History and German Studies in Göttingen from 1971 to 1980 and from 1983 worked as a research assistant at the Institute for State Research at the University of Göttingen .

He deals with the constitution of castles, sacred topography and the veneration of saints in ruling churches, family organization and the transfer of power as reflected in the founding of monasteries, the history of cartography and historical settlement and cultural research.

In 1984 he received the first Wedekind Prize for German History from the Göttingen Academy of Sciences for his book Castle and Church during the German Middle Ages . That was also his dissertation from 1984 in Göttingen.
