Gerhard von Plettenberg (* in the 15th century; † August 1, 1540 ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Gerhard von Plettenberg came from the Westphalian noble family von Plettenberg , whose name goes back to the headquarters at the foot of the Plattberg near the town of Plettenberg. Numerous well-known personalities have emerged from it. He was the son of the Heidenreich von Plettenberg called von der Molen and his wife Sophia Schade. On March 16, 1514, Gerhard is documented as a canon in Münster and archdeacon of Bentheim, and on August 16, 1515, he is mentioned as a canon together with his brother Heinrich . Gerhard was also provost of Kaiserswerth, archdeacon in Billerbeck and Gildehaus and owner of the Sommersell obedience . On the day of his death he made his will and thought of his brother Christoph (Drost zu Schwarzenberg), his sister-in-law and his servants and maids.
