Germán Quiroga Gómez

Germán Quiroga Gómez (* 1951 in La Paz ) is a former Bolivian politician.

Life

Germán Quiroga Gómez studied economics . He was a member of the Movimiento Nacionalista Revolucionario (MNR) during the transition to democracy and a functionary in the youth organization of the MNR. In 1979 he was a delegate for a constituency in La Paz, but was not deployed. In 1980, under the government of Luis García Meza Tejada , he headed the administration of the Ministry of the Interior, which his cousin Luis Arce Gomez headed as Minister of the Interior. 1989 became a member of parliament for the department of Cochabamba from which his family came. In 1993 he was re-elected for a constituency of the Departamento La Paz . Under the government of Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada , he was Minister of the Interior from 1993 to 1994 . On December 16, 1994, he resigned as Minister of the Interior and was replaced by Carlos Sánchez Berzain. He was shown in a photograph with Pier Luigi Pagliai and Luigi Dellachiae ( novios de la muerte mercenaries of Klaus Barbie ).

From 1996 to 1997 he was Prefect of the Department de La Paz under the government of Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada . The office of Prefect prevented him from running in the following parliamentary elections and became a host.
