career

Tello spent most of his professional career at the Mexico City- based Club Universidad Nacional , with which he won the Mexican football championship in his first season in 1980/81 . In the seasons 1984/85 and 1987/88, two finals followed against immediate city rivals Club America , both of which were lost. The 1987/88 season was also with a total of 14 goals the personally most successful season in the career of Germán Tello, who had scored nine goals in the first half of the season alone.

Only in the 1985/86 season, which was played in two special tournaments (Prode 85 and México 86) to better prepare for the 1986 World Cup in their own country , Tello was loaned to league rivals Atlético Morelia , for whom he scored a total of six goals.

After his active career, Trello worked as a trainer and over a long period of time looked after various junior teams of his long-term club UNAM Pumas .
