Germán Villa Castañeda (born April 2, 1973 in Mexico City ) is a former Mexican soccer player who mostly played in defense or in defensive midfield .

Germán Villa received his first professional contract with his hometown club América , with which he was under contract for almost his entire active career (from 1991 to 2009) and for which he made his debut in a league game in the 1991/92 season against Club León . He only played for a few short stages on loan in 1998 for the Spanish club Espanyol Barcelona and in 1999 and 2009 for Club Necaxa . In his last season 2009/10 as a professional football player , he was under contract with the Querétaro Fútbol Club .

With Club America he won two championship titles (2002 and 2005) as well as the Supercup (2005) and the CONCACAF Champions' Cup (2006).

National team

Villa made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team in an international match played on January 14, 1996 against Mexico's southern neighbor Guatemala, which was won 1-0.
