Germaine Lindsay

Germaine Maurice Lindsay , also known as Abdullah Shaheed Jamal (* 23. September 1985 in Jamaica ; † 7. July 2005 in London ), was one of four men involved in the bombings of 7 July 2005 in London were involved in which Over 700 people were injured and at least 56 were killed including the perpetrators. Lindsay is believed to have detonated the bomb that killed 25 people on a train traveling between King's Cross St. Pancras and Russell Square underground stations .

After his conversion to Islam he called himself Abdullah Shaheed Jamal .

Life

Lindsay was born in Jamaica and converted to Islam at the age of 15 . The carpenter lived in Huddersfield before moving to Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. He lived with his wife, Samantha Lewthwaite , an Aylesbury-born convert to Islam, and a son. She was expecting her second child.

His friends said of him that after his conversion he shed his old habits and friends and only lived for Islam. His 22-year-old wife, who called herself Sherafiyah after the conversion, denied Lindsay's involvement in the attacks until authorities provided forensic evidence of his presence.

The attacks

Police sources are certain that Germaine Lindsay, along with Mohammad Sidique Khan , Shehzad Tanweer and Hasib Hussain, was responsible for the bombings on three subways and one bus.

An investigation by Scotland Yard found no explosives in Lindsay's apartment, but he did rent one of the cars that were left at Luton station before the bombers got on the train.
