The German Chapter of the ACM eV is a specialist society for computer science in practice and theory based in Munich .

It was founded in 1968 as the first such specialist society in Germany. It is the German section of the international Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). For legal reasons, the German Chapter in Germany was founded as an independent non-profit association, so it has its own membership, association bodies and its own budget. Of course, it is also closely linked to the international organization ACM, which a. in sending top-class speakers from the USA to some of the German Chapter events.

The focus of the association's work is the promotion of networking and the exchange of knowledge between computer scientists with a strong practical relevance. This is expressed in the conferences organized or co-organized by him, to which currently u. a. However, the German Chapter reaches most interested parties through the 34 regional groups in many cities in Germany, which it operates together with the Gesellschaft für Informatik eV, with which it has been associated since the beginning of 2004. Lecture events are held regularly in these regional groups, in which computer scientists can update their knowledge even after completing their training. Specialized working groups and informal get-togethers promote networking.
