Germe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Germe (Greek Γέρμη; also Ἱερὰ Γέρμη Hiera Germe "Holy Germe") was an ancient city in the Mysia countryside in northwestern Asia Minor in what is now Turkey. It lay between the Makestos and Rhyndakos rivers . Although Germe was relatively insignificant, extensive minting of the city from Roman times has survived. The titular bishopric of Germa in Hellesponto of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to a lost Christian diocese of the city .
