Gertraude Krell

Gertraude Krell (born April 18, 1952 in Darmstadt ; † January 5, 2016 in Berlin ) was a German business economist and professor at the Institute for Management at the Free University of Berlin .

Life

Gertraude Krell completed her studies in sociology, economics and business administration in the 1970s at the Free University of Berlin with a diploma in economics and in 1976 with a diploma in business administration. She then worked as a research assistant at the University of Oldenburg . She received her doctorate in 1983 with the text "The Image of Women in Work Science". Her habilitation “Vergemeinschaftende Personalpolitik” appeared in 1994.

In 1991 she accepted a professorship for business administration with a focus on personnel policy at the Faculty of Economics at the Free University of Berlin , where she was professor at the Institute for Management until 2007. In 1999 she was visiting professor at the University of Innsbruck .

Even after her retirement, she continued to focus on her work. Her main research interests were in the fields of gender equality, particularly with regard to pay and leadership positions, gender and diversity, emotions in organizations and discursive (de) constructions of “economy”.

Awards

In 2003 Gertraude Krell received the Margherita von Brentano Prize from the Free University of Berlin for successfully establishing gender research in business administration.
