Gertrud Jürgens won the German women's championship in Vienna in 1943, ahead of Maja Schlemmer, Edith Keller and Friedl Rinder .

A year before that, she finished seventh out of eight participants in the 1942 German Women's Championship in Bad Oeynhausen , which Edith Keller won ahead of Ottilie Stibaner .
