Frederik Mikael Jakob Lynge (born August 1, 1889 in Qoornoq , † November 1, 1957 in Copenhagen ) was a Greenlandic politician , writer and teacher .

Life

In 1909 Frederik Lynge graduated from Grønland's seminar for teachers . After further training in Denmark , he was employed as a teacher in Ilulissat in 1911 . Together with the pastor, writer and genealogist Hother Ostermann , he published the hymn book Sangbog for Jakobshavn . In 1913 he gave up his teaching activity and from then on worked as colonial administrator for Den Kongelige Grønlandske Handel in Akunnaaq , Aasiaat and Qullissat , which is remarkable in that he was mostly Inuk himself. In 1922 he sat for a meeting in Grønlands Landsråd . He was elected in 1927, but not in 1933. Only in 1939 did he manage to move in again. In the next legislative period he represented only once in 1949, until he was again a full member of the first national council for all of Greenland from 1951 to 1954. From 1924 to 1932 he was chairman of the local council of Aasiaat, as well as that of Qullissat from 1935 to 1939 and then Sysselrat from 1942 to 1949. From 1953 until his death he was the first Greenlander to sit in the Folketing . Frederik Lynge advocated the incorporation of Greenland into the Danish Kingdom, provided that this would not damage Greenland's identity. He wrote many political articles, which he wrote in the Avangnâmioĸ newspaper ( residents of the north ). He wrote a Greenlandic book about Hans Egede , was an administrative member of the King Frederiks IX and Queen Ingrids Foundation and the Greenland Society, and campaigned for the fight against tuberculosis . He received the Kongelige Belønningsmedalje in silver, had been a knight since 1939 and a first degree knight of the Dannebrog Order since 1952 . In 1990 a stamp was issued in his honor .

family

Frederik Lynge was the son of Sivert Elias Kristian Karl Lynge (1853-1902) and his wife Bathsheba Sara Juliane Helene Meyer (1856-1939). Through his father he was a descendant of Hans Egede and Anders Olsen . In 1913 he married Louise Magdalene Maria "Mâliánguaĸ" Fly (1895–1973), the daughter of Mikkel Jens Henrik Fly (1871–1916) and Regine Katrine Mariane Bertheline Noahsen (1869–?). From his marriage he had the following children:

  • Kristine Kathrine Dorthe Lynge (born September 16, 1933 in Qullissat )
  • Mikael Augustinus Lynge (born October 22, 1935 in Qullissat)

His grandchildren include the politicians Aqqaluk Lynge (* 1947), Ole Lynge (* 1955) and the writer Hans Anthon Lynge (* 1945). His cousin was Augo Lynge (1899-1959), also a writer and politician.
