Jakob Lund

Niels Jakob Louis Lund (born February 27, 1900 in Lynge Sogn , Allerød Kommune , Denmark , † January 18, 1979 in Qaqortoq ) was a Greenlandic catechist , poet , composer and councilor .

Jakob Lund was the eldest son of the poet Henning Jakob Henrik Lund (1878–1948) and his wife Karoline Malene Justine Haldora Egede (1877–1979). On August 19, 1924 he married Magdalene Bolette Ane Lynge (1902–?), Daughter of the catechist Pavia Benediktus Jakob Lynge (1874–1943) and of Bendtea Else Ane Louise Heilmann (1880–1960). She was a sister of Augo Lynge (1899-1959). The couple had six children: Karl Lynge Lund (* 1925), Dora Lund, married. Holm (* 1926), Flora Lund married. Petersen (* 1927), Malene Lund married. Schørring (* 1934), Henrik Lund (* 1939) and Poul Emil Lund (* 1942).

Jakob Lund studied at Grønland's seminary from 1916 to 1921 . He then became a catechist and later a senior catechist. He was mainly active in Nanortalik , Alluitsup Paa and Qaqortoq. Like his father, he was also active as a poet and composer. During his time in Nanortalik he was a member of the South Greenland State Council from 1927 to 1932 , together with his father. He died a few days before his mother, the first hundred-year-old Greenlander, at the age of 79.
