Niels Egede (politician)

Niels Jakob Eskild Enok Egede (born November 13, 1900 in Narsaq ; † unknown ) was a Greenlandic catechist , teacher and councilor .

Niels Egede was the son of the hunter Edvard Frederik Kristian Anders Egede (1858–1901) and his wife Ane Sofie Frederikke Berthelsen (1865–1913). His brother was the regional councilor Gerhard Egede (1892–1969). Through his mother he was a grandson of Rasmus Berthelsen (1827-1901). On August 18, 1924 in Nuuk, he married Sara Marie Kristine Josefsen (1900–?), Daughter of the cook Hans Daniel Ole Josefsen (1873–?) And his wife Amalia Johanne Magdalene Petersen (1879–?), A sister-in-law of Asser Berthels ( 1885-1957).

Niels Egede attended Grønland's seminarium . In 1921, after completing his training, he was a catechist in Qoornoq . During his wedding in 1924 he was head catechist in Narsaq. As such, he taught at the local Efterskole . He retired early. From 1939 to 1941 he sat for three meetings in the South Greenland State Council . In 1943 he was represented by his brother Otto Egede .
