Jens Nielsen (politician)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jens Kristian Johan Gudbrand Nielsen (born May 17, 1887 in Appat ; † unknown ) was a Greenlandic trade administrator and councilor .

Jens Nielsen was the son of the Danish commercial administrator Søren Nielsen (1861-1932) and his wife Dorthe Jacobine Petrine Susanne Pjetturson (1866-1943), half an Icelandic woman and sister of the Provincial Councilor Johannes Pjetursson (1869-1932). His mother housed polar explorers such as Knud Rasmussen and Peter Freuchen or sewed clothes for polar expeditions. His brother was Hans Nielsen (1891–?). He was also the brother-in-law of the Provincial Council Pavia Pollas (1885–?). On July 3, 1910, he married in Upernavik Elisabeth Kathrine Johanne Jansen (1889–?), Daughter of Timotheus Jens Paul Jansen (1854–1891) and Nathalie Karoline Cecilie Petersen (1856–1903).

Like his brother, Jens Nielsen actually worked as a cooper and later as Udsteds administrator in Nuussuaq . For the legislative period 1939-1944, he was in the North Greenlandic Provincial elected, but only took in 1943 at the meeting. Only in 1939 was he represented by Knud Bidstrup .
