Andreas Frederik "Fare" Hans Kristen Høegh (born July 25, 1895 in Qaqortoq ; † October 2, 1970 in Nuuk ) was a Greenlandic printer , editor , businessman and councilor .

Life

Frederik Høegh began an apprenticeship as a book printer at an early age in the printing works in Nuuk founded by Hinrich Johannes Rink in 1857 , where he was employed from 1921. In 1931 he became Udsteds administrator in Ammassivik , but in 1939 he moved to Narsaq , where he worked until his retirement on New Year's Day 1957.

When he left Ammassivik in 1939, he had to return his seat in the regional council, to which he had only recently been elected. He was also active in the Sysselrat and the local council, where he was temporarily chairman. From 1933 to 1948, Frederik Høegh published the South Greenland local newspaper Sujumut , which was the country's first local newspaper, in his own small - and thus the first Greenlandic private - printing company . He was the holder of the Kongelige Belønningsmedalje 1st degree and died in 1970 at the age of 75 after a long illness in Nuuk hospital.

Frederik was the son of the gunsmith Peter Billiam Gerhard Høegh and his wife Amalie Cecilie Thaarup. His brothers included the carpenter and architect Pavia Høegh (1886–1956) and the blacksmith John Høegh (1890–1966), both of whom were also on the regional council.
