Hans Nielsen (politician)

Hans Peter Henrik Julius Nielsen (born January 25, 1891 in Appat ; † unknown ) was a Greenlandic trade administrator and councilor .

Hans Nielsen was the son of the Danish commercial administrator Søren Nielsen (1861-1932) and his wife Dorthe Jacobine Petrine Susanne Pjetturson (1866-1943), half an Icelandic woman and sister of the Provincial Councilor Johannes Pjetursson (1869-1932). His mother housed polar explorers such as Knud Rasmussen and Peter Freuchen or sewed clothes for polar expeditions. His brother was Jens Nielsen (1887–?). He was also the brother-in-law of the Provincial Council Pavia Pollas (1885–?). On October 3, 1918, he married in Tasiusaq Marie Pauline Birthe Danielsen (1901–1927), daughter of Abel Nikolai Lars Jakob Danielsen (1874–?) And his wife Debora Amalie Jakobine Wæver (1875–?). The son Ole Nielsen emerged from this marriage . After her death, he married his second marriage on July 30, 1927 in Tasiusaq Bodil Ane Kathrine Heilmann (1905–?), Daughter of the Provincial Council Tobias Heilmann (1873–1940) and his wife Marie Susanne Vilhelmine Berthelsen (1873–1930).

Hans Nielsen was trained as a cooper in Upernavik and Kangersuatsiaq . But he lived most of his life in Tasiusaq, where he worked as a cooper in the trade. He succeeded his father as Udsteds administrator of the place, which he remained until his retirement in 1946. From 1936 to 1938 he was a representative for Hendrik Olsen on the North Greenland State Council .
