Jonas Petersen

Jonas Laurits Klaus Petersen (born October 1, 1898 in Maniitsoq ; † unknown ) was a Greenlandic catechist and councilor .

Life

Jonas Petersen was a son of the head catechist Elias Kristian Frederik Peter Petersen (1856–?) And his wife Bertheline Margrethe Ane Maria Skifte (1856–?). Like his father, Jonas was trained to be a catechist. In 1928 he moved to Qasigiannguit , where he worked as Oberkatechet and from 1933 to 1938 in the North Greenlandic National Council was elected. In 1979 he was made an honorary citizen of Qasigiannguit.
