Abel Egede (politician)

Abel Pavia Niels Egede (born February 25, 1880 in Nuuk ; † May 13, 1945 ibid) was a Greenland state councilor .

Abel Egede was the son of the hunter Mikael Peter Hans Jens Egede (1859–1889) and his wife Frederikke Ane Johanne Kathrine Bolette Heilmann (1859–1899). His sister had an illegitimate child with Inspector Oscar Peter Cornelius Kock . On October 6, 1901, he married the Greenlander Dina (1875–1952), daughter of Abraham, born in 1839 from Kangeq, and an unnamed mother. The couple had the following children:

  • Bolette Sofie Maria Charlotte Egede (born January 1, 1903 in Nuuk)
  • Mikael Samuel Vilhelm Morten Egede (born July 29, 1904 in Nuuk)
  • Peter Karl Jørgen Jakob Egede (born December 1, 1905 in Nuuk)
  • Peter Lars Abraham Egede (born February 5, 1908 in Nuuk)
  • Ketura Kathrine Birgitte Bodil Egede (born March 7, 1911 in Nuuk)
  • Jørgen Andreas Amos Egede (born December 14, 1912 in Nuuk)
  • Ane Sofia Maria Lovisa (born September 30, 1914 in Nuuk), second wife of Frederik Nielsen (1905–1991)

Abel Egede was a hunter and chairman of the Nuuk Town Council. In 1922 he represented the head catechist Niels Lynge in the national council.
