Gertrud Staats (born February 21, 1859 in Breslau ; † June 21, 1938 there ) was a German painter .

Gertrud Staats is one of the main representatives of Silesian landscape painting . In doing so, she developed from academic realism to open-air painting and influences from Art Nouveau to proto- expressionism . During her lifetime, she found widespread recognition for her work.
Life
Staats was a student of Adolf Dressler (1833–1881) in Breslau, Hans Fredrik Gude in Berlin, and Adolf Hölzel and Ludwig Dill in the Dachau artists' colony .
