climate

Gêrzê has a continental high mountain climate. In the north of the province, even in summer, temperatures do not rise above freezing point. In the south it is significantly warmer and therefore arable farming is possible in summer. In Gerze itself, the average temperature is around −1 ° C. The coldest air temperature ever measured in Gerze is −44 ° C, the highest is 31 ° C. This shows that both annual and daily temperature fluctuations are very large. In winter the temperature can drop from 0 to −35 ° C at night. Temperature drops down to −10 ° C are also possible up to July, and hail and snowstorms are not uncommon.
