Gar ( Tibetan : སྒར་ རྫོང་ , translation after Wylie : sgar rdzong , also Gar Dzong , Chinese  噶尔 县 , Pinyin Gá'ěr Xiàn ) is a district in the Ngari administrative district of the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . Its main town is the large community of Sênggê Zangbo . It lies on the Gar Tsangpo River , a tributary of the Sênggê Zangbo (Indus).

Administrative structure

At the community level, the district consists of one large community and four communities. These are (official spelling / Chinese):

  • Greater community shiquanhe (狮泉河镇), seat of the district government;
  • Municipality of Günsa (昆莎 乡), with the historically significant town of Garyarsa ;
  • Moincêr municipality (门 士 乡);
  • Community Zhaxigang (扎西岗乡);
  • Zoco municipality (左左 乡).
