Scent trail

An olfactory trail is a trail that is laid out as a trail by a tracker using a drip can in order to train a working dog to track work using its sense of smell .

The liquid in the jug, which is applied drop by drop, gives off a pleasant scent for the dog .

The olfactory trail was used, for example, to train reporting dogs .

The train laid out during drag hunts is also an artificial scent trail that the hunting dogs follow. It consists, for example, of diluted herring brine or an aniseed solution .
