The Schinkel comprehensive school (locally referred to as “GSS” for short ) is a cooperative comprehensive school in the Osnabrück district of Schinkel-Ost . The Schinkel comprehensive school is currently attended by around 1,600 students, mainly from the district and the city of Osnabrück, as well as from the communities bordering the city area. All general school system qualifications can be obtained at the Schinkel comprehensive school . The school is a recognized UNESCO project school .

history

The Schinkel comprehensive school was founded in 1971 with the consent of all parties represented in the City Council of Osnabrück. In the foreground was the political will to set up a school in the former working class district of Schinkel that enables students to complete all degrees. Bertolt Brecht's call for peace education has been carved into the left stone wall of the main entrance since 1985 . The student population of the comprehensive school approximates the social composition of the population of Osnabrück. The proportion of students with a migration background is around 22% (2006). The Schinkel comprehensive school was the only comprehensive school in the city of Osnabrück until 2010; on August 5, 2010, the Integrated Comprehensive School Osnabrück (IGS) began operations in the Osnabrück district of Eversburg .

Energy saving school

Student company "Fashion Crew"

The student company was founded in the 2004/2005 school year. The experience of a class project in the 2003/2004 school year was used. The company's economic goal is to develop and sell various school merchandise products. According to the company philosophy, on the one hand the school community should identify more closely with the school, and on the other hand the income should benefit the school.

From an educational point of view, in addition to imparting simple business knowledge, the focus is on introducing people to acting independently. A total of 20 students are currently working for the company. They are supervised by two teachers. The student company is a member of the “Sustainable Student Companies” working group. The experienced students prepare presentations for trade fairs as part of the “Wir-AG” project in the Osnabrück district and take part in them in order to be able to exchange their experiences with the employees of other student companies.

Work priorities are set in each school year, e.g. B. Questions about the socially responsible manufacture of products (in this case T-shirts). As a result, in cooperation with the “Third World Action Center” and the University of Osnabrück, T-shirts from “ Fair Trade ” were included in the student company's offer.
