Protected part of the landscape, Doppelallee Westheim

The protected landscape component Doppelallee Westheim is located in the urban area of Marsberg west of Westheim in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis as a protected landscape component (LB). The LB borders directly on the village. The LB is within the landscape protection area open spaces near Oesdorf / Westheim and Krähengrund with the golf course and other sports facilities. The golf course is located directly west of the LB.

description

The landscape plan explains the LB: “The protected property comprises a predominantly three-row (only in the southern part - in the transition to the forest - also two-row) avenue made up of various large-crowned deciduous trees and larches. The tree population is particularly impressive due to its location on a slight ridge of terrain, its "undisputed" space requirement between the Westheim residential development and the outdoor sports facilities, its closed canopy and the - despite a natural overall impression - the strict row planting. Chestnuts and linden dominate the deciduous trees. At the edge and to a greater extent in the southern part, the avenue is lined with various types of shrub; At the level of the golf course there is a species-rich grassland border with individual bushes in the west. Due to its location on the outskirts of the village, it also serves to relax after work and is an important "natural experience space" for children. "

Protection purpose

The designation as LB took place:

  • To maintain, develop or restore the efficiency and functionality of the natural balance
  • For revitalizing, structuring or maintaining the townscape and landscape
  • To ward off harmful effects

Like the other LBs in the landscape plan area, the LB represents an outstanding habitat for the ecological performance of the natural balance. It also serves as an element that structures and animates the landscape. The designation serves to ward off real or potential harmful effects through the removal of plants, relief or water changes, etc.
