Protected part of the landscape of the field woods Zum Kump

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The protected landscape component of the Zum Kump field wood with an area of 1.04  hectares is located in the urban area of Marsberg northwest of Canstein in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis as a protected landscape component (LB). A courtyard is adjacent to the east. In the north is the Red Land nature reserve . The LB is otherwise surrounded by the landscape protection area open spaces around Canstein .

description

The landscape plan explains the LB: “At the edge of the nearby open spaces north of Canstein, a crescent-shaped field wood with hornbeam and hazel as the predominant wood species extends along an asphalt path. On the shallow, weathered calcareous soil, it houses a species-rich, extensive ground vegetation made up of the - sometimes rare - herb species of the woodruff beech forest and high proportions of ivy. In the north there is a bushy forest mantle, and a stinging nettle border has emerged towards the path. On the south side, there is hardly any forest mantle or fringe, as here the fields are plowed right up to the trees. In addition to the forest-like hazel stands and a larger occurrence of spring flowering plants, the young field maple growth, which is strong in individuals, is striking. In addition to the species protection functions, the field wood is of great value as an invigorating landscape element in the large-scale field. "

Protection purpose

The designation as LB took place:

  • To maintain, develop or restore the efficiency and functionality of the natural balance
  • For revitalizing, structuring or maintaining the townscape and landscape
  • To ward off harmful effects

Like the other LBs in the landscape plan area, the LB represents an outstanding habitat for the ecological performance of the natural balance. It also serves as an element that structures and animates the landscape. The designation serves to ward off real or potential harmful effects through the removal of plants, relief or water changes, etc.
