Protected landscape component Henzengraben

The protected landscape component Henzengraben with an area of 2.05  hectares is located northeast of Oesdorf in the urban area of Marsberg . The area was designated in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis as a protected landscape component (LB). The LB is largely surrounded by the nature reserve Randhöhen between Sintfeld and Diemeltal . In the north there is a direct border to the nature reserve linen brook / Tieberg .

description

The landscape plan explains the LB: “The ditch is formed by a hollow shape cut deep into the red sandstone of the surrounding farmland with rich, well-structured woody vegetation. The stream fed from the main spring trough on the western edge receives further inflow through several lateral spring and drainage water outlets. In its often curvy course, it opens up some clayey layers and flows after about 500 m in the adjacent nature reserve Waschebach / Tieberg into the Jungsebach. In addition to the spring and flowing water locations, it derives its scenic significance from a number of large-crowned old oaks, beeches and cherries, which represent an important dividing element in the arable land of the “linen pastures”. Overall, the slope vegetation is very rich in bushes and species, so that the LB also forms a diverse retreat, breeding and food biotope for the small animal fauna in the field-forest transition area with connection to similar biotope structures in the Waschebachtal. "

Protection purpose

The designation as LB took place:

  • To maintain, develop or restore the efficiency and functionality of the natural balance
  • For revitalizing, structuring or maintaining the townscape and landscape
  • To ward off harmful effects

Like the other LBs in the landscape plan area, the LB represents an outstanding habitat for the ecological performance of the natural balance. It also serves as an element that structures and animates the landscape. The designation serves to ward off real or potential harmful effects through the removal of plants, relief or water changes, etc.
