Protected landscape component of the ravine west of Udorf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The protected landscape component of the hollow road west of Udorf with an area of 1.06  hectares is located in the urban area of Marsberg west of Udorf in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis as a protected landscape component (LB). The LB starts right on the outskirts of Udorf. The LB is otherwise surrounded by the open spaces nature reserve west of Udorf .

description

The landscape plan explains the LB: “It is a 5 m deep and approx. 300 m long ravine directly at the western exit of Udorf, which loses depth to the west as the terrain rises. In contrast to the ravines around Leitmar, it is still used as a (paved) path connection. The slopes are steeply inclined by about 60 °. While only a relatively patchy woody vegetation has developed on the southern slope side, the northern section has denser forest cover, the age of which increases towards the top of the slope. Here, old field maple and hawthorn bushes dominate the otherwise quite numerous types of wood. Overall, the protected object represents a valuable element of the cultural landscape in terms of cultural history and landscape aesthetics. "

Protection purpose

The designation as LB took place:

  • To maintain, develop or restore the efficiency and functionality of the natural balance
  • For revitalizing, structuring or maintaining the townscape and landscape
  • To ward off harmful effects

Like the other LBs in the landscape plan area, the LB represents an outstanding habitat for the ecological performance of the natural balance. It also serves as an element that structures and animates the landscape. The designation serves to ward off real or potential harmful effects through the removal of plants, relief or water changes, etc.
