Protected part of the Upper Valme landscape

The protected landscape component of Upper Valme with a size of 3.99  hectares is located south and north of Lanfert in the urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was designated as a protected landscape component (LB) in 1993 with the Schmallenberg Southeast landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . The LB consists of three sub-areas. It is divided by the hamlet of Lanfert and a district road. In the north, the LB goes to the city limits. The LB is surrounded by the Valmetal landscape protection area to the north and south of Lanfert .

Area description

The protected landscape component of Upper Valme is the near-natural low mountain range Valme with a bank area and a beech forest on the edge of a slope south of Lanfert. In the LB, the Valme is consistently accompanied by woody banks, partly also by alder gallery forest.

Protection purpose

Protected object, which, according to the landscape plan, clearly differs in its independent character from the surrounding forest and field landscape.
