The protected landscape component Rosengarten north of Eppenhauser Straße with an area of ​​1.9  hectares is located in the area of ​​the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The protected landscape component (LB) is located in the Hagen district of Emst . The LB was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen.

The LB is a remnant beech forest on a prominent hilltop. It is surrounded by buildings. Only in the west is an area with forest, orchards and pastures. This area has been designated as a landscape protection area (LSG). This area was designated as the Rosengarten landscape protection area north of Eppenhauser Strasse . The Hagen Youth Hostel is located directly on the landscape protection area and the youth hostel soccer field is even within the same.

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, the designation was made “to ensure the efficiency of the natural balance by maintaining a natural deciduous forest as a habitat, especially for small mammals, cave-breeding bird species and dead wood-dwelling insects and the characteristic flora of indigenous deciduous forests in the settlement area and to revitalize and structure the local and landscape elements by securing natural landscape elements and urban climatic compensation areas in the settlement area ".

Prohibitions and requirements in the landscape component

For the protected landscape component of the rose garden north of Eppenhauser Straße , special prohibitions and requirements were issued. In addition to the prohibitions for all protected landscape components in Hagen, forestry use is prohibited in this landscape component with the exception of individual logs. The removal of the tennis court in the landscape was set as a requirement.
