Protected landscape component of the quarry on Radensberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The protected landscape component of the quarry on Radensberg with an area of 0.49  hectares is located in the urban area of Marsberg south of Giershagen in the Hochsauerland district . The area was designated in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis as a protected landscape component (LB). It is located directly on the county road from Giershagen to Adorf . The LB is surrounded by the landscape protection area open spaces around Giershagen to the west of the county road and otherwise by the landscape protection area Radensberg .

description

The landscape plan explains the LB: “North of the Radensberg, the Central Devonian main greenstone ceiling has been opened up on a small hilltop through former excavations, which characterizes the landscape in the neighboring Padberger Schweiz to the west and whose diabase forms an eastern branch here. Since the quarry was not completely backfilled in the course of recultivation, the upper quarry wall now forms an interesting "geological window" in which, among other things, so-called "pillow lava" is clearly visible. The plantings on the filled, upstream excavation area are not entirely appropriate to the landscape in terms of their species composition, but with a relatively high proportion of thorn bushes they provide good nesting opportunities for hedge breeders in the surrounding lean grassland (see also the Radensberg landscape protection area). On the original hilltop area east of the old quarry wall, dry, pine-dominated forest communities grow. The protected object increases the overall biotope and visual diversity of the surrounding open land. "

Protection purpose

The designation as LB took place:

  • To maintain, develop or restore the efficiency and functionality of the natural balance
  • For revitalizing, structuring or maintaining the townscape and landscape
  • To ward off harmful effects

Like the other LBs in the landscape plan area, the LB represents an outstanding habitat for the ecological performance of the natural balance. It also serves as an element that structures and animates the landscape. The designation serves to ward off real or potential harmful effects through the removal of plants, relief or water changes, etc.
