History in the West: Zeitschrift für Landes- und Zeitgeschichte (short: GiW ) is a historical scientific journal, which on behalf of the Brauweiler Kreis für Landes- und Zeitgeschichte e. V. is published by Sabine Mecking in conjunction with Alfons Kenkmann , Markus Köster, Georg Mölich and Christoph Nonn .

The first year was published in 1986. The magazine was published twice a year by Rheinland-Verlag (later: Rhein-Eifel-Mosel-Verlag). Since switching to Klartext Verlag in 2006, it has been published as an annual volume with one main topic.
