Speed funnel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A speed funnel is a device on public roads that, in accordance with Section 45 of the StVO, gradually reduces the permitted route-related maximum speed in stages to the target value by means of a regulated sequence of speed restrictions. In Germany, the general administrative regulation for road traffic regulations normally provides for steps of 20 km / h. In different cases, the first reduction (but not to the final value) by 30 km / h is permitted.

commitment

Speed funnels are used for a limited time primarily to secure construction sites, permanently when approaching bottlenecks or in the transition area from expressways to inner-city streets. The purpose of the procedure is to reduce the speed level step by step in a targeted manner in order to avoid abrupt driving and braking maneuvers by harmonizing the speeds. In special cases, stationary speed monitoring systems are also installed for control purposes .

In the meantime, the speed funnel has also been included in the update to RSA 95 and ZTV-SA 97 and must be placed on country roads outside of built-up areas at over 50 km / h .
