The Braunschweig Bastion , which protected the north-western city gate (the Krökentor ) , was originally located on today's park area . For the 50th anniversary of the Magdeburg Horticultural Association in 1895, the then Magdeburg gardening director Johann Gottlieb Schoch suggested the construction of a horticultural exhibition. An area of nine hectares was acquired and after a year of preparation the exhibition was opened on August 28, 1895. In addition to the exhibition of regional and national gardeners, the focus was also on the use of the soil profile of the old fortress. Above all, the high-lying viewpoint and the water cascade opposite attracted attention.

After the end of the financially successful exhibition, the decision was made to convert part of the complex into a public park. Once again, Johann Gottlieb Schoch drafted the plans, and so the park on the northern front was built by 1897 . Numerous villas were built on the edge of the complex, their demarcation to the park was kept transparent so that the park was visually expanded.

On June 18, 1901, the Patriotic Women's Association had a monument erected for Queen Luise of Prussia . The location of the white marble sculpture at that time was on the south side of the park. Based on the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Garten (today Klosterbergegarten ) the complex was called Queen Luise Garden from then on .

In the following decades there were several smaller conversions and extensions, but the character of the facility remained. On April 13, 1951, the park was named Geschwister-Scholl-Park . The monument to Queen Luise was knocked off its base in February 1963. The fate of the statue has been in the dark since then, only the head of the statue survived the attack and was secretly in private ownership for years.

During the following years the park slowly deteriorated. It was only from 1990 to 1994 that the facility was renovated according to the original plans. The park is now a listed building. At all entrances to the park there are boards in memory of the Scholl siblings .

In June 2009 a replica of the Luis memorial was inaugurated.
