The law on radio systems and telecommunications terminal equipment ( FTEG ) regulates the placing on the market , free movement and commissioning of radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment in order to enable an open, competitive movement of these devices in the European internal market ( Section 1 ). It contained requirements for the protection of health and safety as well as electromagnetic compatibility ( § 3 ). With effect from July 4, 2017, it was replaced by the Radio Equipment Act, among other things .

In order to ensure the end customers' freedom of choice in practice, the amendment of January 23, 2016 introduced information obligations with fines with effect from August 1, 2016 for the operators of public telecommunications networks.
